What car did 2012 love?
More than two million cars were sold in the uk in 2012, one car for approximately thirty people, the highest post recession amount. December saw an increase of 3.7% compared with 2011. Despite these high sales they have not matched pre recession numbers of 2.4 million, not bad though! Consumers were spending large amounts and confidence was sky high in 2007, the fact that we were only 20% down from then is great and hopefully 2013 will be better! Diesel cars are on the rise as they make up for 50.8% of total sales, electric cars were boosted to 9.4%. Impressive for the green car makers, government subsidies must have helped a lot.
The most popular car of 2012 you ask? You can probably guess it and statistically you own one or two of these..
The Ford Fiesta! With over 100,000 models bought, closely followed by the Vauxhall corsa with 20,00 fewer bought in 2012.
Maybe they aren’t struggling all that much?
